Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS) officially launched the Etherow Language Hub last week, working with the National Consortium for Languages Education (NCLE).
As one of the first phase of 15 Language Hub Schools, CHHS welcomed language teachers from schools across the North West to the event, where they discussed plans to develop the network and agreed shared priorities to improve teaching and learning in Languages.
Etherow Language Hub is part of a national network of hubs, back by £14.9 millions of funding by The Department of Education over the next 3 years. The funding will be used to support the national Language Hub networks, to increase the uptake of language study for students from all backgrounds, deliver expert training to language teachers, including upskilling language teachers through partnerships with Goethe-Institut, the British Council and beyond.

As a lead hub school, we are privileged to be able to organise the coming together of change makers in language teaching from our partner schools across the North West. It was a productive day, agreeing priorities for development and building relationships between partners schools in the network. We are excited about where this will take us all!”
In total the NCLE is creating a national network of up to 25 lead hub schools across England, to recognise the value of great language education both to students and to the country. Each lead hub school will deliver training to up to seven partner schools to improve standards of language teaching and learning across the country.
