Laurus Live, held at the iconic setting of the Royal Northern College of Music was a celebration of another outstanding year of musical performance for Laurus Trust schools.
Over the course of the academic year, student musicians have shown great commitment, perseverance and dedication to their individual and collective musical progression, through their involvement in a full school performance calendar, musical productions, community events, hub partnerships, graded music examinations, and concert tour preparation. The evening served as a celebration of the musicians’ dedication and hard work, aiming to inspire them and nurture a lifelong love for music.
Building upon the success of the inaugural event, Laurus Live 2024 once again served as a phenomenal platform for students from all six Laurus secondary schools to come together and showcase their talents. With 274 students from across the Trust and a remarkable 119 members of our Trust symphony orchestra, the evening was filled with awe-inspiring musical experiences.
Heather Brown, Trust Director of Music, said after the event:
“I am incredibly proud of our student musicians who have shown great commitment, perseverance and dedication to their individual and collective musical progression, through their involvement in a full school performance calendar. We’re incredibly fortunate to be supported by a talented team of Trust music teachers, peripatetic tutors, and our hub partners at One Education Music, Stockport Music Service, and Tameside Music Service. Their shared passion for music education is truly inspiring. At the Laurus Trust, we champion musical excellence, believing in music’s power to transform lives.”
The Law Family Educational Trust (LFET) plays a pivotal role in supporting Laurus Live. Through their generous support, we provide the time, repertoire, resources and expertise to ensure a musical education of the highest quality. Students can access the support they need to progress to higher levels of musicianship, so they can study music at the highest level.
Laurus Live is an evening of celebration showcasing dedication and hard work across all our Laurus secondary schools, with an aim to inspire students and continue nurturing their lifelong love for music and embodying the Laurus Trust’s vision: inspiring children from all backgrounds to learn a musical instrument, make music with others and to have the opportunity to excel in music.
With the resounding success of this inaugural event, we eagerly anticipate Laurus Live’s return in 2025!
