At the Laurus Trust, we place great importance on teaching the next generation about the value of giving to others and supporting those less fortunate than ourselves.
In the spirit of giving, staff and students across our family of schools came together to raise money, collect donations, and get involved in a wide variety of charitable appeals over the festive period.

Christmas cards for Christies at Cheadle Hulme High School
Staff at Cheadle Hulme High School raised an impressive £915 in their Christmas cards for Christies appeal.
Instead of sending cards to colleagues, staff each make a donation to the Christie charity and have their name added to a big Christmas card email that is sent to all staff.
The Christie charity provides care and treatment to cancer patients and their families.
Didsbury High School collect donations for Mission Christmas and local food bank
Staff at Didsbury High School brought in donations to put under the Christmas tree in support of Mission Christmas.
The school community has also been rallying together to collect food and essentials in a drive for local food bank Perry’s Pantry.
Gorsey Bank Primary School support local children with CAFT Christmas appeal
Pupils at Gorsey Bank made the headlines in local newspapers thanks to their efforts in supporting the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT).
They collected over 100 selection boxes to go to disadvantaged children attending CAFT’s Winter Wonderland events.
Hazel Grove High School take part in Christmas present appeal
The Hazel Grove High School community supported the Salvation Army’s Christmas present appeal.
There was a fantastic variety of thoughtful gifts brought in to be given to less fortunate families.
Students at Laurus Cheadle Hulme fill rucksacks with essentials for the Wellspring
Laurus Cheadle Hulme took part in the Wellspring’s Rucksack Project to support people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home.
The Rucksack Project is an appeal that involves filling a rucksack with essentials for homeless and vulnerable people to support them through Winter.
There were countless rucksacks full of donations by the end of the appeal, enough to fill a whole van!
Laurus Ryecroft’s ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ supports local food bank
Students at Laurus Ryecroft participated in a Reverse Advent Calendar appeal this year.
Their Leadership and Service Prefects helped coordinate the effort by speaking to all students in form time.
Each form were tasked with arranging for someone to bring in an item of food for each day of December, hence, the reverse advent calendar!
The boxes of donations were taken to the local food bank in Droylsden.
This is the second year the Reverse Advent Calendar appeal has taken place and it was a brilliant success.
