The Laurus Trust is thrilled to announce the expansion of its family of schools. This week, the Trust has welcomed Hazel Grove Primary School and opened the doors to the first group of children at Crown Street Primary School, in Manchester City Centre.
Hazel Grove Primary School, an established school rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2023, has joined the Trust’s family of primary schools. Hazel Grove Primary is a school with an ethos built on core values of respect, kindness, honesty and responsibility, which contributes strongly to how well pupils achieve – aligning with the Laurus Trust Vision.
On joining the Laurus Trust, Adam Hossen, Head of School at Hazel Grove Primary School said:
“We are delighted to become part of the Laurus Trust family. The warm welcome we’ve received has been truly exceptional. The Trust’s strong reputation and collaborative spirit is inspiring, and we’re excited to learn from and support our fellow primary schools.”

Meanwhile, the opening of Crown Street Primary School marks a significant milestone, as it is the first school to open in Manchester City Centre for two decades. Head of School, Heleyna Thompson, welcomed the very first cohort of Pre-School and Reception pupils into the school for the first time this week (below she is pictured with the founding team of staff).
On the opening of Crown Street Primary School, Head of School, Heleyna Thompson, said:
“It’s amazing to finally see our first cohort of Pre-School and Reception children walk through the doors at Crown Street Primary School, for the very first time. We are looking forward to growing our school community over the coming years, providing our children with an education on another level, where possibilities are endless.”
Lisa Woolley, Director of Primary, added:
“This is a monumental moment for the Laurus Trust as we welcome Hazel Grove Primary School to our family of schools and open the doors at Crown Street Primary School for the very first time. I am really looking forward to working with Adam, Heleyna and their teams to provide the children in their communities with an education that they deserve.”
