Miss McLeod Marsh started her teaching career at Crown Street Primary School in September but has been in the childcare and education sector for almost 8 years, in various roles before obtaining a First-Class BA Honours degree in Education Studies and completing her Primary PGCE with The University of Manchester.

Teaching is a calling

As someone who has experienced various roles in education, from nursery settings to classrooms and beyond, I’ve seen firsthand how impactful teaching can be.

Here, I’ll share my experiences and insights into why teaching is a profession worth considering.

Starting out: building a strong foundation

My journey into education began at 16 when I started working in nursery settings while pursuing an early education course.

Over the years, I’ve worked in schools, nurseries, and even residential care for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

These experiences gave me a broad understanding of child development, classroom dynamics, and the diverse challenges and joys of education.

For anyone considering teaching, gaining experience before stepping into the classroom is invaluable.

It’s an opportunity to observe how children learn, understand how to adapt teaching methods, and develop the confidence to handle the unique dynamics of a classroom.

These experiences not only prepare you but also reinforce your commitment to making a difference.
